I am general counsel to a large Orange County corporation that was facing a Labor Code 132a Discrimination claim. At a settlement conference, the ALJ told me my “client is toast.” She would not listen to half a sentence about defenses we might have. She had presided over the underlying claim and said the 132a matter was in the bag, it was only a question of how much money we would have to pay. At that point, we sought a specialist and we found George Corson. It was immediately obvious that he knew this area of the law like the back of his hand, including procedural rules and substantive developments. He knew the statutes and he knew the case law. He knew the ALJ and claimant’s counsel.
He did an amazing job, keeping us informed all the way, and actually defensed the claim entirely. This was before the same ALJ that would not engage in 2 seconds of discussion about our position while I sat in her chambers!
As if that was not enough, I can honestly say that George showed more zeal and loyalty for our mutual client than I have ever seen from an attorney in my 15 years of practice. He is an excellent attorney and my client and I will never forget the amazing job he did.
